TRAUMA DIFFUSION
00:00 / 01:08
With a couple of fingers
you can block out the sun,
shielding you from
what you’re trying to outrun
In closing your eyes
for a second to soothe,
disorder disarms
with distractions removed
From a sober recess
senses renew,
recalling resilience
dormant in you
Through cleansing exhale
you alter your course,
in a trauma diffusion
of fear minus force
This pause replays
a mantra to heed,
unique to each
but rooted in need
While they’re brief
it’s what these gestures address;
a flash of authority
we fiercely ingest
If only for an instant
conflict is tamed,
caged within anguish
relieved of its pain
